Been There Before! Circuit City Closes it's Doors

Personally I have been with a large company that closed their doors. It's not fun. For the people that are out of work, my personal advice get in touch with every friend, business associate and create your scouting network for a new job.

For the people that have to help liquidate and collect assets, been there also. After the shock of the closing of the stores, things in the office will get real busy and real fast. There will have more meetings with lawyers, liquidators, attorneys and consultants than you can count. From personal experience get someone that knows these products to help you liquidate the inventory. These lawyers, attorneys and consultants don't know diddly squat about electronics and will just charge outrageous fees for liquidation services.

Circuit City Newsroom Press Release

RICHMOND, Va., Jan 16, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Circuit City Stores, Inc. announced today that it will seek Bankruptcy Court approval to begin the process to liquidate the assets of the company.

"We are extremely disappointed by this outcome. The company had been in continuous negotiations regarding a going concern transaction. Regrettably for the more than 30,000 employees of Circuit City and our loyal customers, we were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction in the limited timeframe available, and so this is the only possible path for our company," said James A. Marcum, vice chairman and acting president and chief executive officer for Circuit City Stores, Inc.

Circuit City will provide more details in the near term about the plans for the liquidation of the stores and other assets, the status of the company's Web site and firedogSM services operations, the status of its Canadian operations and plans for the company's bankruptcy proceedings.

The company does not anticipate any value will remain from the bankruptcy estate for the holders of the company's common equity, although this will be determined in the continuing bankruptcy proceedings.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November 2008. The case number for Circuit City's Chapter 11 filing is 08-35653. Psst.... Don't Tell Anyone

Updated features for the Office Product Cross Reference Tool

Have you ever come across one of those Office Max or Office Depot bids that has their part numbers. Don't know what a 197092 is? Tired of trying to figure out what the product is? Is it a beating to enter one part number at a time on their site? Still having problems figuring out what it cross references to?

We are now in Beta production of an Office Supplies Price Comparison Tool for Dealers and End-Users. There are over 12,000 part numbers cross referenced to Office Max, Office Depot and Staples part numbers, all in one cross reference database.

We think this tool is especially nice for the end-user, which gives the end-user of office supplies a simple tool to compare the top three Office Supplies super stores and their web store prices prices to their contract prices. Everyone out on the internet uses OEM numbers, but on those special contracts, these retailers have been using their internal part numbers.

No one has taking the time to match these numbers up to the OEM number and better yet, cross reference to their competitors.

In recent lawsuits for State agencies regarding overcharging on office supplies, this tool should be a great help for the end-user to check and compare their contract prices with these retailers.

We will enjoy any feedback - give it a try, it's Free to use......It's the internet - and remember don't tell anyone!

You can also get code for your own Office Supplies Cross Reference for your site. How will you use this tool?

We knew this was coming - Projector Phone

We mentioned this idea in our post when the 3M M Pro110 was introduced. Who will put a projector on or in a cell phone? Well someone has, now you can carry a big screen TV in your pocket.

What's in your pocket?

The new Logic Bolt, created by US-based Logic Wireless (their website is still under construction), makes its debut at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas.

Where traditional cell phones provide an amazing amount of information which users are forced to view on a tiny screen, now they can display on the wall for everyone to see.

The new Logic Bolt increases screen size by 3000% or more through a built-in projector that casts razor-sharp images onto a wall or screen. A once “one-user” cell phone becomes a device that creates images large enough for a crowd.

Logic Wireless sees endless applications for its new projector phone, including a must-have business tool for the road warrior doing presentations. Power Point?

Logic Wireless phones are compatible with GSM carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T . In the future, the company will expand its GSM Carrier network.

The Bolt features:

  • Built-in projector that casts images 36“ to 64”+
  • Touch Screen
  • GSM Quad Band
  • 3 Mega Pixel Camera
  • Bluetooth, GPS, Internet
  • PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Connects with Laptop USB, TV, XBox, Wii
Made in China? My kid will get a kickout this for his Wii, will yours?

Oh My Gosh - Geekier than us!

We stumbled across this web page of antique Staplers. "Stapler of the Week" . Are you kidding me! While we were doing research for an old stapler and trying to cross reference what staples could be used in this stapler. We found a few old models of staplers that we had to add to our database just for kicks. Now we can actual say our database goes back to 1920's. While most of these staplers and staples are not in production, we thought who in the world is keeping up with the history of office supplies and especially just Staplers - And we found one that cover the following stapler manufacturers - "Stapler of the Week"
