Brother intros pair of duplexing color printers

Brother on Tuesday announced the release of two new laser printers, the HL-4040CDN and the MFC-9450CDN all-in-one. Both use an automatic duplex printing feature for reduced paper use that will print on both sides of a page. The HL-4040CDN directly replaces Brother's existing HL-4040CN, sharing many of its features, including 21ppm print speeds for black and white and color pages as well as maximum print quality of 2400x600dpi. What it adds is the duplex printing feature.

The all-in-one laser MFC-9450CDN, meantime, does not replace any printers, but also shares many specifications with an existing Brother product, the MFC-9440CN. The main difference is, again, the automatic duplex printing. The MFC-9450CDN has printing speeds of 21ppm whether in monochrome or color, while copying pages can be done as fast as 17 per minute. Maximum print resolution is fixed at 2400x600. It can be shared over a network via a built-in Ethernet port, or connect to external devices such as flash drives or digital cameras via USB 2.0 ports.

The HL-4040CDN will be available in December and priced at nearly $400 or the same as its predecessor, while the all-in-one MFC-9450CDN will ship in January with a $650 price tag.
